I was watching CNBC (UK) waiting for the market chat to start the other day, and a section came on about Walmart removing their self service check-outs.

The reason i've posted this here is that I'm wondering if that means more staff required by Walmart? Their reasons for removing the self service is due to issues with customers  and time taken to sort problems, which leads to a longer queue and frustrated customers. I also think that some items aren't being scanned so lost profits.

Not sure how much this could impact the retail giants. Or if the lost profits covers the cost of extra staff, it may even be a way of preventing thieves in general. But with Walmart owning ASDA and CO-OP (allegedly) it may also be on the horizon in the UK. Which could then lead to the other supermarkets following suit.
