After 12 remarkable years of prolific output, I'm writing to share some significant news with the Stockopedia community. Paul Scott, the anchor of the Small Cap Value Report, will be moving on to new ventures. While this marks the end of an era, it also begins an exciting new chapter for Stockopedia’s editorial and community.
An outstanding contribution
Some of you might remember Paul's earliest contributions as “Paulypilot” on the Motley Fool message boards in the noughties. After the financial crisis, Paul began an ambitious mission to become a walking encyclopedia of small-cap knowledge, publishing daily “Small Cap Report” news analysis on his own blog. After launching the subscription service at Stockopedia, we met Paul and were so impressed with his output that we syndicated his daily reports. They eventually became a permanent fixture on the Stockopedia site as the Small Cap Value Report, which became an institution in its own right, backed up by Graham Neary, Roland Head, Jack Brumby and other writers over the years.
Paul's conviction as a small-cap investor, keen analytical eye and prolific output have served the community here so well over the years. He has a great ability to spot both financial disasters in the making and outstanding opportunities - from early warnings about frauds like Globo to multibaggers like CMC Markets (LON:CMCX) this year. His work spotting profit warnings became the backbone for our Profit Warning Survival Guide, and his multiple industry awards as “Small Cap Analyst of the Year” are a testament to his skill. I’m sure I speak for so many in the community in saying thank you.
What this means for you
For the avoidance of doubt, the great daily market coverage you’ve grown used to is going to continue. In the near term, you'll see a range of editorial and community changes rolled out:
- As of today, the Small Cap Value Report has evolved into the Daily Stock Market Report. We’ll be providing more comment on companies across the market cap and sector ranges, and the big stories of the day. You can more easily discover the content that matters to you - with quick access to historic coverage through event flags on StockReport charts and more future developments pending.
- Graham Neary has now stepped up to anchor our companies coverage, and will be supported from a broader team of writers, including Roland Head…
