Taxtopia by The Rebel Accountant

I've recently just finished the book Taxtopia. To be clear I have no affiliation to the book, its author or its publisher or anyone/anything linked to the book.

As a novice investor and someone that doesnt have much to do with accounts or tax, I found this book a brilliant read. I wouldn't normally post book reviews but I feel that this book has enlightened me to a new screen to add to my research in companies and stocks, Location.

The reason I wanted to highlight this book to the masses is that with such a "boring" topic, I didn't really think this book would appeal. However with the book finished in record time I cannot emphasise how much I enjoyed this (audio)book. It has witt and great insight to tax and accounting. It brilliantly highlights tax avoidance (the legit one) and what companies constantly strive for from accountancy and tax specialists, all in an interesting and entertaining style with mini tales along the way.

I think this book is a must read for anyone unaware of taxation and accountancy and I truly believe that reading this book has opened my eyes into what to look for when researching companies of interest.

It also highlights issues with tax and how you cant just tax the rich, or add an extra tax to the big-corp like Google or Amazon. It is worth noting that it is mainly UK tax related and also mentions Australian tax system.

Whilst it may seem like such a boring and uninteresting topic, I truly believe that Taxtopia should be seen as a must read for any novice investor. It can also hugely benefit those that actually don't fully understand tax and/or accounting.
