Stockopedia and TradingView

Hi all,

I understand a lot of people here are fundamentally based, but I like to incorporate both fundamental and technical for stock/sector selection. I use both Stockopedia and TradingView for this, as they both other quite different peices of functionality.

What would like to know is, are there users out there who use the two also? If so, what is your approach / method to using these in your investment selection process. I'd like to understand how other people integrate different tools in their process, in order to help me streamline/improve mine.

Any thoughts or help would be welcome.

I've just purchased a tradingview subscription to have a play. It incorporates with brokers and provides a lot more chart tools. It allows you to monitor and manage trades pretty well, and it also has a pretty big global community.

I love how stockopedia allows you to display all the charts, and they have introduced a better chart tool, which i suspect they will build on over time. Stockopedia is still best, But I'm not a fan of the region subscription model.

I use Tradingview for technical analysis and then back this up with Stockopedia screen and stock reports before making a decision. Weekly I run a number of screens on Stockopedia for prospects but usually nothing much comes up. Most prospects from reviewing Tradingview lists

TradingView is also useful for programatically shading timeframes, adding labels/text and adding other things to charts. For example, using their "PineScript" language I shade recession periods on charts automatically, add all time highs text, my profit/losses, shade the COVID related period, label the first vaccine and vertical line, Russia's special operation, etc.

I use Tradingview, Sharepad, and have just resubscribed here.

Trading view is the only charting package of the three that allow ratios of two quotes to be plotted on one chart which I regularly use. Other features that I find useful are Rate of Change oscillator, and the bespoke PineScript indicators although I haven't written any of my own. Finally, the range of data available in TV is huge, particularly for economic data [GDP, Inflation, unemployment etc.] All these features are available for free.

I subscribe to TradingView & I can graph multiple stocks at the same time, I'm not sure how many but definitely more than 5 (not sure if the free version allows for this though). BTW the reason I decided to pay for TradingView rather than just use the free version was because I wanted the ability to create multiple Portfolios. Unlike Stockopedia's threshold of10 portfolios, TradingView has no limit that I'm aware of (paid version) . So I can therefore manage sectors more elegantly by having them all neatly seperated.... Saying all that, the free version of TradingView is perfectly adequate really ...

TradingView - lots of strategies to play with and customisable screen. Can trade direct with their affiliated brokers. I need intraday timelines and faster data than stocko - seems to lag at the off so don't get out quick enough - I never get in early, but at least reduce the losses). Can use brokers charts of course. News is great and different presume different providers). Information accessible whilst have chart open saves moving around. Like their technical summary but haven't back tested it. Note making in the chart is good and side notes very useful for reasons why you bought and sold etc.

Futures charts useful and ETF's crypto and I'm half in US market so can play in the evenings.

Has ETF's futures, crypto, indices etc and good for US market.

Just done a black weekly (sic) deal and extended into 2024. By then I might have learnt how to use it.

Have also subscribed to SimplyWall St. Liked their graphical and valuation summary, but can't have too many subscriptions. Info overload but likeable.

Stockopedia is good enough for me, don't need any other paid subscriptions. Since I began subscribing to Stockopedia just over a year ago now, I've now made a 100 percent profit not from the lucky odd trade or two but from many dozens of trades. Stockopedia's fundamentals are superb, and so are the technicals. When it comes to charts, less is more; don't need the arcane and mystical, just the basic really which are price, volume, MA's and trendlines, and a mastery of chart patterns. I no longer bother with indicators such as RSI,MACD etc... I used to obsess about these when I first started trading; charts patterns are where the real power of charts lie.

The profits I made were in a recession/downturn, so performance should be much better when the bull market returns. One thing is for sure, that level of performance would have been impossible without Stockopedia. Before, I was gambling on stock selection, now I can pick a fundamentally sound stock easily , massively reducing my risks. Along with charts, and risk management, I am feeling very good about my trading right now. The game changer in my trading was finding Stockopedia and then learning how to use it well.

How do you manage UK sectors on TV if you don't mind me asking please. I can't even find the sector tickers on there!

New to Stockopedia, but use Trading View charts, screeners as it is realtime and can use multiple screens, like I use monthly, weekly and daily prior to buying a stock. Plan on using both platforms.

I don't think sector charts are available on TV although you can filter stocks by sector. ETF sector charts are available, the SDPR SELECT FUNDS [XLE, XLV etc] are a good choice for the main groups. Another free option is to get an IG account [demo accounts are available] where you can chart all the NMX sectors [FTSE 350]. Unfortunately, I haven't found a reasonably priced chart resource that has everything I want in one place [my budget won't stretch to a Bloomberg terminal].
