Solomon Gold (LON:SOLG) , the copper and gold focused mining group, has wrapped up 5,000 metres of new drilling at its Central Rannes gold project in Queensland, Australia.

Results from the latest testwork are still pending but Solomon said it had seen promising indicators in drill holes at the Porcupine and Crunchie prospects – two of five areas where drill work is currently focused.

Solomon is targeting a gold resource in excess of 1 million ounces at Central Rannes, with extra large targets at Copper and Policeman Camp Creek.

The company believes Rannes exhibits structures and geochemistry similar to the Carlin trend in Nevada, US, which is among the most prolific gold producing belts in the world.

Nicholas Mather, Solomon’s chief executive, said: “The company is pleased to report that the current phase of drilling has been completed at both the Porcupine and Crunchie prospects, with the rig now at the Crackling Rosie Prospect.”
