Can anyone offer other potential alternatives for individual stock research ideas... there are some other reasonable ones around, but am I missing anything that's top drawer please?

Not UK focused but I really like 'we study billionaires' and 'millennial investing'. They cover books, strategies, stock ideas. Always have great guests on.

Totally agree though. Paul's weekend podcast is easily the standout.

Indeed, yes. I also enjoy Robert Armstrong Unhedged as a daily email (premium subscription required). But you can get a more detailed look at certain of the themes explored daily in an accompanying podcast. Robert is smart and funny.
I think you can spend too much time thinking about the macro. Just buy great companies when they are good value. Or even when they are not, if you intend to keep them long enough. Macro only really matters during regime change (2022) or a crisis (2008).
Twinpetes Investing Podcast (fortnightly) always runs through a handful of companies that the hosts find of interest, but very much DYOR after listening . One or tow things have been bought to my intention & Pete is a very successful investor having had over 50+ takeovers across the years.
