I hesitate to ever post a link to a petition, but this one is worthwhile, and what's more, relevant!

The FTSE 100 Index (FTSE:UKX)   has had pretty anaemic performance since 2000, especially when compared to something like the German index DAX or the Nasdaq. However, I only found out today that the returns on the Xetra DAX Index (ETR:DAX) include dividends, whereas those on the FTSE do not. This discrepancy means people say "you've made no money holding UK stocks for 20 years but 10% holding German ones", because they are not comparing like with like.

So this petition is aimed simply at bringing uniformity across indices so that they reflect the total return that shareholders obtain, rather than just the capital growth. It seems like something we should all support, so please sign and share.
