Mello2024....Where would you like us to hold the conference?

We are currently running a poll on X, formerly known as Twitter (as if you did not know by now, lol) hoping to keep most investors happy and able to attend. The date has provisionally been set for the 22nd and 23rd of May.

The Mello team are looking at various options including a return on our tenth anniversary to the rather quirky but very popular Derby Conference Centre...

Please let us know your thoughts on here and do enter your verdict in the poll. The venue needs to be a fairly accessible location by road & rail to maximise attendance & encourage companies to join us.
If any of you have conference centres or venues that you know would be suitable then do give us a nudge. Chiswick serves our Mello community well but good to review regularly and also give those further afield the opportunity to join our two and three day events.

What a pity I can’t make those dates. I would have loved the opportunity to meet some of the contributors here in person. Another time hopefully

Morning David,

I live just north of London, so am very happy with the Clayton Hotel at Chiswick as a venue. However despite my preference for a London or south east venue I appreciate that this is not convenient for every potential attendee and would be happy to return to Derby which I attended 4 or 5 years ago.

On the basis of accessibility cities situated centrally such as Birmingham , Leeds or Sheffield are likely to be more universally popular. The issue of course is finding an appropriate venue at a cost effective price.

I’m in Surrey so Chiswick would be perfect for me, but for fairness considering many commenting here seem to be further north…. Always fun to explore places in the U.K. I haven’t visited before.We need someone with an expertise in graph theory to work out the optimal location!

Leeds is on East Coast mainline connecting Edinburgh to London. Venue Double Tree Hilton next to rail station.

Manchester! Obviously.....

Private Investor engagement is still very low in the U.K. There have been other attempts in the past by other organisations to try other cities, numbers have struggled. ShareSoc have not yet returned to either Manchester or Birmingham for their in person events, they appear to be struggling from long covid. We need everyone to pull together rather than pull apart.

Mello is an excellent event, private investors need to support it and look after it. Wherever you choose, please make it viable for Mello itself, don't bet the ranch.

Derby Manchester or Leeds all look reasonable to me, but quite distant if you live in Northumberland, Cumbria or Scotland.

My vote is Leeds

To Leeds: Berwick 2 hrs 20, Carlisle 2 hrs 30 , Edinburgh 3hrs 5.
Edinburgh to Chiswick 5 hrs 30.
