Inditherm, the provider of heating products using its unique, carbon based polymer technology, has released its interim results for the six months ending 30th June 2010. A 75% increase in turnover to £927k (H1 2009: £555k) was driven by increased sales in its patient warming products. This, combined with a12% reduction in overheads delivered a reduction of over 75% in pre-tax operating loss to £136k (H1 2009: £584k).

Inditherm reported continuing weak market conditions in its industrial business, with orders flat vs. H1 2009. Inditherm does not see these conditions improving any time soon, and has decided to withdraw from the industrial processing market, where it served specialty food/confectionary processors, and focus on the medical sector.

The increased focus on the medical market ought to allow Inditherm to make the most of its relatively limited resources as a small company. However, the company's management team warned that the continuing uncertainty in NHS capital budgets may hinder its future growth rate. Progress in the company's other focus market, the US, remains slow.
