After some recent reading 'How to listen when markets speak' there is a strong argument that in a higher inflation environment which we are now in and will be for the foreseeable future that hard assets will outperform growth stocks and technology. It also explains how green sustainable energy simply won't meet the worlds demand its mathmatically and physically impossible so fossil fuels (oil and coal) are going to become increasingly important as supply struggles to meet demand. Commodities, metals (copper, lithium) and minerals (cobalt) will also be in demand so mining stocks should perform well.

I've already made a decision on mining and how I'm going to tilt towards that but I'm torn between these two energy ETFs and would appreciate peoples thoughts. Are they both traded in US dollars or would the Ishares one be a better option for a UK investor if its traded in GBP?

iShares S&P 500 Energy Sector UCITS ETF GBP (IESU) 0.15%

SPDR S&P U.S. Energy Select Sector UCITS ETF (SXLE) 0.15%

Finally does anyone have an suggestion on how to get exposure to coal, ideally a fund or ETF?

Many thanks
