Anyone else play the quarterly FTSE review for a trade? http://www.stockchallenge.co.u... (click on FTSE ranking)

Examples- Hikma Pharmaceuticals (LON:HIK) Diploma (LON:DPLM) and Dechra Pharmaceuticals (LON:DPH) likely promoted to the 100

Persimmon (LON:PSN) RS (LON:RS1) and Johnson Matthey (LON:JMAT) out

Ceres Power Holdings (LON:CWR) Cab Payments Holdings (LON:CABP) Moonpig (LON:MOON) into FTSE 250

CMC Markets (LON:CMCX) Synthomer (LON:SYNT) Molten Ventures (LON:GROW) Capita (LON:CPI) out

Im already short Synthomer (LON:SYNT) and long Diploma (LON:DPLM) so hopefully they work out. Took a punt on Cab Payments Holdings (LON:CABP) yesterday, just listed, should see a bump for a couple of weeks maybe unless they have a shocker next week. Foresight group (LON:FSG) a possibility also.

Hi Wolf, I was looking at this as a trade. Does RS Group look as though they are going to exit the FTSE 100? If so, then perhaps a good short term short?

I have been looking to buy some Hikma Pharmaceuticals (LON:HIK) shares. Dechra Pharmaceuticals (LON:DPH) is a takeover, I have sold mine. Diploma (LON:DPLM) is on my watchlist.

Looking that way at this point. Maybe a decent short. EPS forecasts coming down, tho price has has come off a bit in the last 2 weeks so tricky to time.

Would have been best to go short on the big down day last Wednesday, which also triggered a MACD sell signal. Could then place your stop just above that days candle. Right now its a 50/50 id say.

Yes usually find a trade in the Quarterly review space, FTSE 100 usually more profitable than 250.

The stock that has every chance of a return to the FTSE for August September is Marks and Spencer (LON:MKS) with a MCap of £4.57 and loads of momentum and not a lot of Institutional ownership so that could boost any other potential gains.

Thats some nice momentum as you say.

Carnival (LON:CCL) must be the most likely to be promoted to the FTSE100. The debt is too high for me.

I have shares in Hikma and M and S. Also Johnson Matthey. So 2 in 1 out. I am surprised at how poorly JM have performed

I'm not sure what to believe with Carnival (LON:CCL) because Stockopedia and many other websites suggest it's a large cap. However, the London Stock Exchange state the market cap is £1.6b and (rightly) sitting within the FTSE 250. If this is true, then it won't be large enough for a promotion to the FTSE 100

Looks like Hikma Pharmaceuticals (LON:HIK) and Marks and Spencer (LON:MKS) are going to be promoted, in September. Diploma (LON:DPLM) also. Dechra Pharmaceuticals (LON:DPH) also but this is bid situation, so maybe short lived.

I recently added Hikma Pharmaceuticals (LON:HIK) and Marks and Spencer (LON:MKS) to my folio. I will have a look at Diploma (LON:DPLM).
