With all the flooding in the last few months, which firms should be looked at for cleanup/prevention/repairs? I appreciate the most affected will be insurance firms, but surely theres some companies apart from local businesses that will benefit in the long run.
I'm not trying to profit off peoples problems and losses, however I can only see this problem becoming more frequent over the coming decades.
Hire tends to do well from flooding (crude I know), from contractors building flood defences and supplying specialist tools, machinery for the build. Also both before (temporary flood defences) and after the flooding. If you look at the floods in Leicester the local hire shops (listed think VP (LON:VP.) , Speedy Hire (LON:SDY) HSS Hire (LON:HSS) ) are hiring out industrial dehumidifiers to help people dry out their homes and businesses and as you can imagine are in high demand.
Difficult to simply buy these off the back of what will no doubt be a heightened trend in the years to come. Same with larger storms - you see roofing merchants, roofing contractors, timber merchants, general builders have an uptick in sales, however technically they always get a boost every year due to storm damage and storms/flooding won’t be a huge % of their annual sales - granted can and probably will grow but overall demand IMO more important, these areas are highly cyclical too.
