Indian LNG imports could more than double between 2030 and 2040 and then rise again by another 20 per cent to 2050.

India's growing gas demand over the next 30 years - and, more broadly, that of Southeast and South Asia - highlights the need for gas-producing countries around the world to continue to bring on future supply.

This includes the US, where the current LNG export approvals pause is a source of concern for nations in Asia that are attempting to map out energy pathways over several decades.

In the case of India and other emerging nations, LNG is a fuel that will help them meet increasing energy demand while reducing reliance on high-emitting coal.
